  • A 10 hour date.

I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been in a funk.  I don't do well with secrets, and I've been carrying a doozey for 3 months.  Let me give you a rundown.

    1.  Nauseous and tired (think jet lag)

    2.  Taco Bell drive-thru guys knowing me by name.

    3.  Crying and then becoming angry in the next second.  At the movies yesterday I sent the raisinettes sailing across the counter because I thought they were too expensive (they were).  Andy had to explain to the guy that I was hormonal and I didn't mean it (I did).

    4.  Even though I know Coke isn't a great healthy option, it squelches some of the nausea.

There you have it, I'm manic-depressive and have a thyroid problem.  Just kidding, I'm expecting the 5th member of this family and am soooo excited!!!

Yesterday was a fun-filled day filled with meeting our new midwife, a great movie, 'New in Town', and dinner at the Coquette Cafe.  It was a blast!  I'm so glad that Andy celebrates this occasion right along side me.  We laughed, we ate a bucket of mussels and I was falling asleep at dinner by 9:30, very romantic.   Happy Valentine's Day!

  • Urghhh, Ughh, blah...

Remember my big plans to read 'Jude the Obscure?'  Apparently my local library didn't take me seriously all 3 times I put it on hold.  As I was complaining about this, my husband gently said, 'If you made it through 'War and Peace' why not read The Bible in a year?'  It's one of those things that's a no-brainer and all together overwhelming at the same time.  I immediately came back with, 'Oh I will, but I'm going to skim the genealogies.'  I didn't skim Tolstoy.  Why would I skim God?  So that is the challenge that lays before me.  To start this challenge off right I picked up Darwin's 'Origin of Species' at the library today.  Let me explain.  Thursday is the guy's birthday and I keep seeing glitches about his life and work.  I went to a private, Christian school and college and could not tell you very much on this theory that is taught as truth worldwide.  That bugs me.  Here's my hunch.  Man is proud.  It's really hard (for some)  to accept that God is smarter, wiser, more powerful...  You get my drift.  I rest in this fact.  All that to say, it's a short read and maybe I can argue better for creation knowing a little more about evolution.  Urghhh, Ughh, blah, it bugs me that it's taught as truth and creation is shut out but,

Romans 14:11, 'For it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me and every tongue  shall give praise to God."'

  • A few rough nights,

but a silver lining.  The past few nights have been nights that you always heard parents talk about, but hoped you wouldn't experience  yourself.  Our sweet, docile Claire has discovered how to climb out of her crib.  Andy heard little footsteps run into the kitchen, and then back to their bedroom.  Due to the fact that it was 3 in the morning he chose to ignore it, and even call it normal.  A few minutes later he heard the same thing and decided to investigate.  Claire had come back for round 2 of Salt and Vinegar chips and was sitting in the bed next to Lily enjoying her snack.  Lily had been coughing that night alot.  After this episode Lily came into our room several times saying she was going to throw up.  After the 4th time we lost sympathy and started getting... unsympathetic.  Claire came running in next, tripped over the pillows next to our bed, and hit her lip on our nightstand.  We all know that mouths bleed, alot.  Not more than 5 minutes later Lily threw up capping off a terrific night.

The silver lining is the springlike weather we are experiencing.  We had Waterdeep playing this morning while we ate Belgium waffles with the door open and birds singing.  Such a refresher for the soul.   We're staying home because of the sickness we are carrying, and honestly I don't mind.  Family devos will do today.

  • While I mopped...

I dragged the lap top around and listened to Focus on the family's daily broadcast.  It featured Josh McDowell speaking about his life with an alcoholic and abusive father, wanting to die at 11 and then setting out to prove that God didn't exist.  Needless to say,  God was with him as a hurting child and adult and a change started to take place.  It is a powerful testimony of our Father's outstretched arms and unending grace and love.  If you can take a half hour and listen in today and tomorrow I think it will be an encouragement for us as believers to stick with those who are tough to reach.  Here's the link of the website, http://www.focusonthefamily.com/  then just click on daily broadcast

@ewarken -  Good for you for blowing off school for good weather!  It didn't take too long to get back down after the twins but it's harder now that I've stopped nursing 2!  Jason and I go to a kickboxing class at the Y twice a week and I try to squeeze in at least one other day.  I need to drop a g

Sorry for you hard night last night, Emily!  I know my day is coming with Nola and Selah scaling the crib walls.  Right now, I'm dealing with Selah stripping all her clothes off and her diaper when she's in her crib for her nap...oh my!  Enjoy the sunshine!  It's in the 50s here...off to do some int
